Low power data logger

The ML-417 is a compact, low-power, cost-effective remote data logger, available with or without a built-in cellular modem (LTE-M & NB-IoT). It is ideal for measuring outdoor environments and collecting valuable data in environmentally challenging applications. The ML-417 comes equipped with a built-in temperature sensor, an 8GB micro SD card, and a 2FF SIM card slot.

The ML-417 offers various power options, including:

  • 3.6V lithium batteries,
  • 8..28V DC input,
  • 12V solar panel input,
  • Or an integrated solar panel with a battery charger.

Key Features:

  • Inputs: The data logger can acquire physical signals through:

    • 2 current loop inputs,
    • 2 voltage inputs,
    • 1 potentiometer input,
    • 3 digital inputs.
  • Additional or specialized inputs can be added using internal stackable option boards/converters.

  • Serial Port: One serial port is included to capture measurements from sensors that are compatible with ASCII, MODBUS, NMEA, or SDI-12 protocols.

  • Sensor Power Supply: The ML-417 can power external sensors to prevent them from consuming energy while the data logger is in sleep mode.

  • Mathematical Channels: Up to 8 mathematical channels are available for calculating meaningful engineering values derived from sensor inputs (e.g., using a polynomial to calculate flow from stream level).

  • Aggregation Channels: The logger supports up to 8 aggregation channels (e.g., recording 2- or 10-minute windspeed averages sampled at 1Hz).

Data Logging and Transmission:

  • When equipped with a cellular modem, logged data can be pushed to a server via HTTP(S), FTP(S), secure TCP, or MQTT(S) at configurable intervals.

Product Variants:

  • ML-017: Without a cellular modem.
  • ML-417: Includes a global LTE-M & NB-IoT modem.

When integrated with the solar panel, the ML-417 forms a fully self-sufficient remote monitoring station. This cost-saving solution eliminates the need for additional components like:

  • External solar panels,
  • Large batteries,
  • Separate cellular modems,
  • Encapsulating cabinets.
